Well I just started taking pictures. I've been interested in astronomy for a long time and I have now picked up some binoculars and stolen my brother's camera that he now owns. I've attempted to take pictures of the stars, Moon, and Jupiter. I just learned about afocal astrophotography which is a fancy way to say taking pictures through an eyepiece. So I'm getting a small 3 inch telescope Wednesday so I hope to try my hand at some short exposures around 30 seconds or less. Bear with me because I'm not all that familiar with either astronomy or photography unless it is my little point and shoot camera. I am wondering how well Jupiter will show up in a 3 inch scope during its opposition the 14th of August. Plus I hope to get some close up shots of the moon with some details.
Oh and I just won from ebay a t-ring and adapter for a telescope so I may not have to do the afocal method if it works out.
I hope that by December 21st 2010 I've got a nice 6 to 8 inch telescope and an Olympus OM-1 camera (a great model for astrophotography) to take some great pictures of the total Lunar Eclipse.
